Have a question.....

Hello and I know I haven't been around lately, just been busy. But I would like to ask some of the guru's out there about this question.......

idea.gif

It is relating to a specific transmission that I am thinking about to use with the set up that I currently have "written" up. Yes, it will be a Fox Body Mustang but I would like to use the AODE transmission. I have done my research and found something really awesome to my liking. And it would definitely turn some heads as shows and what not. Now that I have stated the transmission, I would be needing a bullet proof transmission to handle enough HP. I am projecting about 800 to 1,500 HP at the motor since decided to go with a twin turbo set up on a "specific" modular motor. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh. I forgot to mention, it most likely will be used as a daily driver during nice weather only and sometimes take it to the track (Drag and SCCA). Hope this helps out a nit with some of my ideas. Thanks!!!

You may find one that'll take 800hp, I doubt you'll find one that won't smoke the 4th at 1500hp

Try Lentech or Art Carr and see what they have. C4 would the way to go or a GM turbo 400, but those won't give you overdrive. I don't see you finding any o/d automatic that will handle 1500 hp.

i agree with lentech and art carr, there built for that kind of power, but not cheep.... if you go with an aod, have professionally built with an optional electronic od... good luckbiggrin.gif

Alright thanks cuz this is what I have planning to do with this kind of setup.... here is the link.....

Shifter paddles

Yup, you name it...shifter paddles with an AODE transmission. I've talked with the company and says that I must use an electric version so I can use their electric device that comes with the kit. So it shifts with the paddles to when i want it to shift gears without using a manual clutch. It just blew my mind about that. Don't get me wrong about manual shifting, I still love doing it but as I've thought about it in the long run, it would possibly shift faster and have the ability to "shift" whenever I want to. So it is basically best of the both worlds. I just wanted to be "different" and try something new!

After taking a peek at Lentech, looks like I've found it, but I will talk it up with the techs at Lentech tomorrow and then take it from there. Thanks for the heads up and I totally forgot about that company. aww.gif

Make sure you can find a bell that will fit on that mod motor. Mod motors = 4R70Ws and 4R100 trans. I think they made a aode on early lincoln mk8s. mod motor trans are electronic only, and electric converter. The trans computer is going to be tricky. I would go with a c4 or th350 and if you want paddle shifters use air to accuate the trans. Like a CO2 air shifted tranny. Autos are not that easy to remove in a mod motor. Sure don't want to be taking that in and out every month. Od will be the limiting gear. Again the wiring of both the 800+ hp motor and auto trans will be costly.
