Looking for Gt40 heads...not "P"

Looking to step up from my anemic E7's. Looking for cheap set of GT40's. Budget is anemic as well.
Help!

185's are perfect for small cube, forced induction motor. Any low speed loss in port velocity is made up by blower. I won't purchase used heads I can't inspect in person. Budget is almost non existant....I'm trying to do this on the cheap. I'll do backyard valve-job (hand lap)
replace valveseals, minor bowl work, clean up intake/exhaust ports, then polish. Presto!!

i got mine out of an explorer at my friends junk yard....heard it run...he took ito ut and it was mine...all my heads got werre 3angle and a little exhaust port work...the gaskets i used felpro 1250's for the intake match perfectly on the ports...not 100% on the coolant ports but i fixed that and ya i was thinkin about that after i said it..i figured ud loose a little low end cuz the big intake runners...but the blower takes care of that, have u dynoed ur car yet?

No dyno yet, guesstimate based on mph & weight...390-400rwp.

They are...here's one of many articles...I did a lot of research on them...Headers are an issue, but some fit, and the P spec headers can be used on ALL heads...

Interesting read Mike, thanks. Appears they are pretty close intake flow wise however on the exhaust side the "P" head has the advantage. I'm not sure of the brand of my long tubes so I'm not sure about the fit. I'd hate like hell to try these & open an expensive can of worms.

I might be parting out my car soon, I will sell the heads and headers for like $400. They both have

ik MAC long tubes and OLDER bbk long tubes work fine...the P headers from mac are 289$ ouch!....the headers i have work...i just need to get som 90 boots like u mentioned...just a pain in the ass to change the plugs...and ik for a fact stock GT40ps with no work done to them stop flowing at .500-.510 lift, so the b303 cam is almost perfect...with some 1.7s...ull be at probly .500 lift im gonna do a stud rocker conversion on mine tho, pedestal mount are wicked 70's and can be a pain in the ass if u use bigger 1.7 , 1.72, or 1.73 rockers...so ive heard

Scour some junkyards and bargain a bit... I picked up a set for $125, then again this was after I told him they were off an "old lincoln" and I quoted a rival junkyard at around that price.... and for 125 bucks if theyre junk, no big loss, just go pick another set. ?96-98? came with the GT40's and not the GT40 P's. these are denoted by the 3 l's (lll) on the front. GT40 P's have 4 l's (llll).

Thanks for the correction on dates, I wasn't 100% sure. I always thought it was easy enough to go by the markings on the front of the heads, that way your sure of what your getting.

haha wouldnt have said anything but for the past 4-5 months ive been doing research on the p heads..wich was probly a waste of time...but in the long run it helped me decided to go all out on the motor and no susp work...or go nuts on the susp and a very mild motor...if one is looking for BIG POWER...these heads are obv not the way to go...but for the money u can get them for...u cant go wrong...matched with the right cam and tune....they definaly have potential to make 300 flywheel hp...and provide plenty of fun/power for the street
