Ford has issued a TSB on the TR3650, but won't own up to it being a POS and issue a recall to fix it. The TSB parts alone is over $1000. Stop wasting time and put in a T56. Far superior tranny and a lot nicer to drive with. I went this route and wouldn't go back ever.

I don't know why some people say the 3650 sucks or why fairly stock engines are blowing them . If I had to guess I would say it has something to do with driving habbits or lack there of. I have 600 horse running through my 3650 and it also has 62,000 miles on it and it works great . I had it taken apart and inspected at 60,000 miles and there was zero wear on all internal parts . However as it stands right now the second gear synchro is a little lunched , but this is my fault from a really bad mis shift . I know there are better transmissions out there but , in my opinion the 3650 is a damn good transmission as far as factory one's go ... Just my twocents.gif

Compared to a T5 or T45 yes it is better. When compared to other factory manuals its a joke. Mine was fine when I took it out, notchy shifts and difficult 2-1 downshifts were wearing on me. Also at 6000+ it wouldn't shift into 3rd. My T56 gives me none of those issues.

I don't know how you blew 1st gear weirdface.gif.. But all other noises and problems point towards beat up synchro's . This is usually a result from improper clutch shift timing . I'm not trying to say you can't shift , just that all it takes is a couple of bad ones ( hey it happens) and the synchro's get ruined . One other thing to consider to is if you have an aftermarket shifter , you might have the shift stops adjusted wrong . Oh and by the way ... Tremec recommends taking out the after market shift stops cuz the tranny has them built in and they prevent the gears from being engaged properley .wink.gif

I'm not trying to compare it to another transmission and say which one is better . I'm just pointing out that so far mine is holding all the power my car can give and in my opinion it's a pretty stout box . So as far as calling it a joke is really not fair just because for what ever reason yours is having problems . Again it sounds to me that you were having synchro problems . Most likley from abusive shifts that were not the best timed .
Your t-56 I'm sure works great . Is it new ??? .. Wait till you have a bad miss shift . it will start to have problems too . Is it the viper spec , with the 26 spline inpute shaft ? ... or is it the cobra spec with the 10 spline ?? ... If it's the cobra it is really only a little better than the 3650, aside from the extra gear . Depending on which you have the cobra is rated at 390 ft of torque , while the 3650 is rated at 360 ft of torque . However the viper spec is rated to 450 ft pounds .
For A little F.Y.I. mine ( 3650 ) now has a Pro -Motion 26 spline hardened inpute shaft that can with stand 650 ft pounds of torque . Which as it turns out really is the week link in these tranny's . In the end it's like this........ No matter what you have for a gear box, if you abuse it will eventually brake . I have yet to see one that is miss shift proof . I also know that the mine is borrowed time aswell ..... When it goes it will be Lentech to the rescue .. As long as the cash god's are smiling down at me . wink.gif[url=http//www.thesmilies.com][img]http//www.thesmilies.com/smil rule !!!! headbang.gif

its internal? damn dude, you must have been on it to blow it up internally. i thought it would have been external, i thought it was your external tranny balancer or your tranny manifold bolts.biggrin.gif

Mine was buzzing sometimes, noisy, downshift issues. Ford recognizes it has a major problem, but won't issue a recall on it. They do have a TSB for it. That right there should tell you something. As for my T56 its got a 26 spline shaft. No shifting issues and yes it is used out of a 10 second 03 cobra.
