If you guys don't know that's the first GT500 in the 11's, 10's, 9's! I guess they took the spray off and are trying the KB route. Anyone else still think they are too heavy?

Ya they are pigs, could you imagine that drivetrain in a um......Fox body????
They probably weigh as much as a friggin Town Car.

Would the power be useable in Fox? The fat pig weight of the GT 500 will be as important to the car as the imense power it makes. Hell My cobra weighs in at 3770 without me in it. The weight on these newer stangs isnt that bad, it actually kinda helps I think. It's hard enough to get traction in 4000 lb car for me now I could only imagine a 700+ rwhp car trying to 60 foot on factory suspension.

Pretty easily actually, take my car for instance. Mini-tub it, fully adjustable upper lower control arms in stock location,Strange fully adjustable rear shocks, anti-roll bar, 325/50/15 Drag Radials on 15x10 wheels.Presto high 9's at 140... I see these type of cars on a daily basis at the shop.

Of course you can make it work but will it work on a showroom floor Fox? Thats where I think the vehicle weight helps the GT 500. Plus the fact they ditched the IRS. With this car in question the stock weight wouldn't do shit to help it anyway the car is a beast and has been modified with drag suspension.

Glad we could come to a feasable agreement without bickering. Not to common on the interweb. I have a hard time describing stuff without my hands hahahahaha. But seriously I want your job. DMC racing FTW.

How much do you think is in that car 80,000.$ or more?? For the money it costs it should run those times !!! I don't agree on your weight theary , every 100 #'s you loose it's a tenth of of E.T. Besides for the coin that shelby costs I could have two 03/04 cobra's that run 9's !!! Take your car for instance all you need is better fuel pumps ( ford gt) A turbo or kennebell and solid axle then say high to 9's .......... 10's with ease !!!! wink.gif

I understand what your saying and I allmost bought a used 2.6 KB this week but, and it's a big but. The GT 500 has less mods then the car /cars you have mentioned. That car is making those numbers with only a blower swap and lowish boost. I don't think a 4.6 cobra 4V will make 700RWHP with only 17 lbs of boost. Maybe with 19 lbs and a crazy tune. Yes, the car is expensive. It's new and the dealerships are greedy. $20,00+ is all mark up! Weight is the real question here and anything can be lightened. Even my 3700+ plus lb without driver 03 Cobra. It's all in what you want to give up.
There is a guy in New Hampshire that has a 03 Mach 1 that runs 11.23's N/A. His car weighs in at 2800 lbs with driver. He has nothing in it. It doesn't even have exhaust.(Pictures of it added) Weight does play a huge roll don't get me wrong but with tons of power comes tons of problems. I would love to see what a completeley stripped GT 500 would weigh? Then what it would run in contrast to it's heavier self. Depending on the weight droppage I am willing to bet the car would be faster with the weight due to traction issues. 700 hp is more then enough to spin half way down the track, as well as kill the tire at the start. EIther way it's all bench racing now. The driver really plays the biggest roll in everything. Bottom line Gt 500 is a superior car to the 03/04 Cobra it's just the inevitable facts.

I get your point . Well said !! peace.gif But for the last time the lighter car will always win !! .........Given equal HP of course. I mean look at this way ..... the notch cars are faster than their GT counterparts !!! ....Why ??? THE WEIGHT beer.gif

But what if the lighter car was lightened in the wrong area, or just too much for the race that day. The heavier car has an easier drive in it, and I feel will win more often. By your way of thinking with the lighter car theory, a honda with 190 hp that weighs 2500 lbs will beat a fox with 190 hp that weighs 2800 lbs. Right? What about the fact of where each engine makes power. Or the smile factor called torque. I won't even get into how suspension is really more important then a 500 lb weight difference. There are many ways to get cars to respond, none are more valued then any other when done right. Would you rather have a 100 more wheel hp or 300 lbs off your car? I'll take the power any day.

Sure as long as we can agree your wrong. J/K
Either way I just found out a GT500 fully loaded with a full tank 16 gal weighs in at 3910. Without the shaker 1000, Sirius, and navigation system it weighs in at 3810. That's only a little heavier then the 03/04.

stock 03 coupe is 3635 with a tank, spare tire ect. add a solid axle to make it even and its 3525.....almost 300lbs heavier that gt500 is. sure...great dyno numbers...but they need them! I still have yet to be impressed by one....
